The problem
The register never goes away.
Sales go through a machine. Udhaar goes in a paper register. At the end of the month nobody can say with confidence who owes what, or for how long.
Imported point-of-sale software has no concept of khata at all. It offers cash and card, so the register stays on the counter and the two records drift apart.
The same gap shows up in the catalogue. Software that only speaks English forces staff to search for products by names they do not use.
